Catholic Charities
announces its newly reorganized counseling program in Salina under the
clinical direction of Dr. Karen Hauser. Appointments may be made
by calling 825-0208 Monday through Friday. For the convenience of
our clientele we have day, evening and weekend appointments available.
Currently we have two
counselors in Salina. We also have counselors available in Hays,
Manhattan, and Colby.
SALINA OFFICE
CARLISLE BERGQUIST, M.A., L.C.M.F.T.

Carlisle holds a Masters Degree in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology
and is a Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist. He is a Doctoral
Candidate at Saybrook Institute completing research focusing on the
therapeutic effect of sound on states of consciousness. His
therapeutic experience includes work with families in crisis,
adolescents, prison inmates, creative artists, and individuals
undergoing spiritual crises. In addition to his counseling, he
does workshops and seminars including "Accessing Your Inner
Creator". His published works include The Magenta
Phenomena, 1994, Accessing Your Inner Creator, 1996, Building
A Better Thought Trap, 1997, and Doorways in Consciousness:
An Exploration of Resonant Being, 1998.
JOSEPHINE A. HERNANDEZ, M.S.W., L.S.C.S.W.

Josephine has a Masters Degree in Social Work and is a Licensed
Specialist Clinical
Social Worker. She has a specialty in family preservation, and
child development and socialization. She has experience working in
the areas of Depression, Anxiety Disorder, Phobias, Eating Disorders,
Incest and Abuse. She is also a Certified National Parenting
Instructor. She is Past President of the League
of United Latin American Citizens. She is fluent in English and
Spanish.
DR. KAREN HAUSER, Ed.D., N.C.C., C.C.M.H.C.

Karen is the Clinical Director for the counseling program and is Chief Executive Officer of Catholic Charities. She holds a doctorate in
Counseling Psychology and Administration and is a Nationally Certified
Clinical Mental Health Counselor. Her areas of expertise include
working with adolescents, assessment of reading disorders and
developmental problems, marriage and family therapy, addictive
disorders, and abuse. Published work includes Brain Dominance
and Marital Satisfaction in Dual Career Couples.
HAYS OFFICE
(REV.) BILL SURMEIER,
PSY.D., L.C.P.C.

Bill holds a Master's Degree in Pastoral Counseling. He is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor for the State of Kansas, and is an ordained Catholic Priest.
He is a candidate for a Doctoral Degree in Psychology from the Graduate Theological Foundation in Donaldson, Indiana.
Bill is available at the Catholic Charities Office in Hays, Kansas.
He provides counseling in all areas from Marriage to Family to Individual Therapy.
KELLI LEGLEITER, M.S.W.,
L.S.C.S.W, C.A.D.C.

Kelli holds a Master’s Degree in clinical social work from the
University of Kansas. She is an experienced Licensed Specialist Clinical
Social Worker for the State of Kansas and is a Credentialed Alcohol and
other Drug Abuse Counselor. Kelli’s clinical experience includes work
with prison inmates, sexual offenders, addictions, family preservation,
and foster care. Areas of specialty include incest and abuse, sexual
offending, individual counseling, marriage counseling and group
counseling. Kelli also provides pregnancy counseling and adoption
services.
