Adoption
Are you thinking about placing a child for adoption? Catholic Charities can help. We are a licensed child placement agency, providing services to birth parents and their families without charge, regardless of religious preference, age, race, or marital status.
You have options. There is often anxiety and uncertainty when you face an unplanned pregnancy or cannot care for your child. We can help you explore your thoughts and feelings while you consider keeping your child, or placing that child for adoption. Because either choice has lifelong implications, it is critical that you carefully consider each option.
We are advocates first and foremost for the child and birth parents. We believe that children are best served by preserving their connection to their family of origin. The best decision for you and your child comes from you, and we will support you, whether you decide to parent or to place your child in a loving adoptive home.
You can choose the family for your child. If you make an adoption plan during your pregnancy, or when your child is older, you may choose a prospective adoptive family from profiles that have been prepared. These families have received adoption education, and will provide a permanent and loving home for your child. We give both birth families and adoptive families equal respect and courtesy. Our agency encourages fully open adoptions, but will also work with birth parents who choose confidential placements. Any ongoing contact after placement will depend solely on you and the family of your choice.
The final decision is yours. Catholic Charities makes sure that there is never any pressure to make a decision. If you decide to place your child for adoption, we will help you carry out your plan.
